Safety and security for the city of Highfill
PATROL
HPD Patrol Officers provide on a daily basis the highest level of law enforcement service with a commitment to our community first, serving with Honor and Integrity in all circumstances.
- Responsible for daily patrols
- Crime prevention and investigation
- Response to calls for service Emergent and Non-Emergent
- Mutual aid for other agencies and local Departments
- Community relations.
SEARCH AND RESCUE EMERGENCY SERVICES UNIT
Several members of the Highfill Police Department are trained in Search and Rescue operations. These personnel aid our local Search and Rescue teams when requested: The Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Benton County Search, and Rescue and the Tri County Search and Rescue Team.
Officers assigned to this unit respond and assist as needed with our Emergency Services Unit Equipment, which includes our sUAS team and our two Emergency Services recue vehicles and other specialized equipment.
RAPID INTERVENTION TEAM (RIT)
This division of H.P.D. consists of personnel trained in various roles, including Critical Incident/ De-escalation, advanced SWAT training, E.M.S. training, advanced rescue training, rapid response to Active Shooters, and other high-risk emergencies.
H.P.D.’s R.I.T. team also assists other local tactical response teams as needed.
K-9
The officers and their canine partners are responsible for detecting several items, including narcotics. They also locate and apprehend criminal suspects in most environments and assist our patrol and specialized units in numerous situations. Our K-9 units also help in locating missing children, the mentally ill, and the elderly when they go missing.
UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (UAS)
The program is a resource to protect the lives and property of citizens and officers of Highfill and/or surrounding communities in a constitutionally and legally sound manner while adhering to Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) regulations.
SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (SUAS)
HPD currently has Two sU.A.S systems ( Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and several personnel trained and certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as unmanned aircraft pilots. HPD sworn patrol staff have been trained to serve important support roles within the sUAS program as visual observers. This important training allows for the visual observers to partner with pilots in providing a safer environment for all persons and property in the area while the unmanned aircraft is being utilized.
The program is an efficient and effective way of providing law enforcement services to the community.
Some examples of S.U.A.S. usage are public safety and life preservation missions including, but not limited to:
- Barricade situations
- Active shooters
- Apprehension of armed and dangerous fleeing suspects
- High-risk search warrants
- Investigative scenes
- Missing persons incidents
- Search and rescue operations
- Disaster scene incidents
- Hazmat incidents
- Suspected explosive devices
- According to a warrant (search or arrest)
- Special events
- Outside public agency assists
- Training missions and mutual aid support when the underlying missions meet the uses outlined in the HPD U.A.S. policy

The Highfill Police Department assists and coordinates our local Municipal Training Officers working group by providing instructors and training to our local municipal agencies.
Staff who are certified Law enforcement Professional Instructors or specialized Instructors can participate by helping facilitate and provide quality and world-class training opportunities to Benton County Law enforcement.
