The Highfill Police Department takes great pride in its officers and employees. The selection process for the position of police officer is an extremely detailed, intricate, and lengthy process. The length of the process is dependent on the number of applicants involved.

Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be accepted into the Highfill Police Department:

1. An applicant shall be no less than twenty-one (21) years of age.

2. MUST have a high school diploma or equivalent

3. Applicant shall have no record of a Class A misdemeanor, felony, or violent crime.

4. MUST pass background investigation.

5. Applicant shall be physically, medically, and psychologically fit to preform essential functions of the job classifications.

6. MUST have a valid Arkansas driver’s license.

7. MUST be able to pass drug test.

8. For identity purposes, MUST submit a photo from the shoulders up.

9. MUST meet all requirements set forth by the Arkansas commission on law enforcement standards and training.

The Highfill Police Department surpasses Minimum Standards and hosts training that is applicable to 21st Century Law enforcement.

HPD serves with a Community First thought process, HPD hosts and participates in many Community events throughout the year providing Public Education and developing relationships to bridge the gap between citizens we serve and the members of our agency.

Each year, HPD along with Law enforcement agencies across the United States host a free Community event called National Night Out. NNO is an opportunity to learn more about HPD, meet our officers and enjoy some time as a Community, Free food, games, educational booths, Live Music, Bounce Houses, Vehicle Displays and all-around family fun, highlight this event each year.

HPD offers health, dental, and vision benefits as well as State Municipal Retirement though LOPFI.

**Officers who are hired full time sworn personnel and certified by CLEST before July 2023, will be eligible for a one-time Stipend of $5,000.

Officers hired full-time are eligible for overtime opportunities when available. That include, Specialized Traffic Enforcement deployments and DWI Taskforce Operations all throughout the year, allowing for additional payroll reimbursement via approved grant funding.
